High-Intensity Training Classes That Transform Fitness
High-Intensity Functional Training: Time-Efficient Exercise & Adherence
Group-based high-intensity functional training (HIFT) provides time-efficient aerobic and resistance exercise at self-selected intensity levels which can increase adherence; behavioral responses to HIFT are unknown. This study examined effects of HIFT as compared to moderate-intensity aerobic and resistance training (ART) on exercise initiation, enjoyment, adherence, and intentions.

Key Benefits
- Improved Endurance: Regular participation in HIT classes significantly boosts cardiovascular fitness, allowing individuals to perform daily activities with greater ease.
- Enhanced Strength: The combination of strength training and cardio in these classes leads to increased muscle mass and overall strength.
- Motivational Environment: The group setting provides encouragement and support, making workouts more enjoyable and less daunting.
Class Types
- HIIT Bootcamps: These classes combine strength and cardio exercises in a circuit format, providing a comprehensive workout that targets multiple muscle groups.
HIIT & Circuit Training: Efficient Workouts for Health & Performance
High intensity interval training (HIIT) has been shown to be an effective method for improving health and performance variables. Due to time constraints and efficiency, many people are opting for circuit training instead of traditional strength training for muscular and aerobic stimuli in a shorter workout.
A comparison of high intensity functional training and circuit training on health and performance variables in women: a pilot study, S Arnett, 2017
- Group Fitness Classes: These sessions focus on teamwork and camaraderie, allowing participants to engage in high-energy workouts together.

Community Engagement Boosts High-Intensity Training Adherence
Developing a sense of community (SOC) helps participants feel that they belong and provides ongoing social support. This paper reports on strategies used during an 11-week high intensity functional training (HIFT) intervention with exceptionally high adherence (96.7%) that involved 30 participants (57% women, age 36.7 ± 4.5 years).
Incorporating a sense of community in a group exercise intervention facilitates adherence, KM Heinrich, 2022
